Why does the system run slower than usual?

Occasionally, we will experience heavy traffic spikes in our system due to a sudden increase in user activity. As a result, we are continuously upgrading the capacity of our servers to better manage these situations. If you have any large upload files, time critical or plan on sending out a large filter-based (rule based) campaign, we recommend you contact Smoking Toad first.

Why can’t I see the new email addresses I just uploaded?

There is usually a slight delay between the time your upload is finished processing (when you can see the results of the upload) and when these new records or updates actually appear within the system view (Member Records, Account Management, Reports). Although this delay affects the appearance of records, this does not affect the actual insertion or update of your records. In short, you can typically go ahead and schedule or send out your campaigns as normal with the assurance that your newly added records will be included.

Why is my upload taking such a long time to upload?

Again, we occasionally experience heavy traffic spikes from a sudden increase in user activity that may cause a temporary system delay. If you have any large upload files or plan on sending out a large filter-based (rule based) campaign, we recommend you contact Smoking Toad first.


Why is my AOL version is displaying only the raw HTML source code?

Certain AOL versions (typically those prior to fully supporting HTML) utilized an arbitrary detection method to determine whether or not certain incoming email messages were HTML documents or plain text. Occasionally, legitimate HTML-enriched email messages will not display in HTML. If this occurs, try inserting a line break tag anywhere in your content (a <br> tag).
   

How do I rename my mailing list name?

Once you log into the Mailing Toad system, simply click on the mailing list you wish to modify, then go into the “Settings” page under Advanced Features. At the top of that page, you should see a text box that allows you to rename your mailing list. 

How do I delete/remove a mailing list?

Once you log into the Mailing Toad system, the first page you should see is the Account Management page. In the table that lists all your mailing lists, you should see a small trash can icon next to each name. Simply click on the icon next to the list you wish to remove.
 

What is Clickthru URL and how do I use it?

Normally, through Clickthru link tracking, the system will automatically “wrap” your hyperlinks with our tracking code (typically, the wrapper will look like www.mailingtoad.com/2,34,5,42, )  When a reader clicks on this kind of link, it will temporarily be routed to our report servers and logged as a “click”, then immediately rerouted back to the original destination link. This works for both HTML and Plain Text versions of your email campaigns.

Now, with the Clickthru URL setting, you can change what this wrapper URL from “www.mailingtoad.com” to any hostname or domain name you wish to apply, such as “news.somecompanyname.com”. To do this, you must acquire the name you wish to use, and then set the IP address of it to point to 66.35.204.200 and contact Smoking Toad support to finish the rest.
